The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens' policy on the deposit of grey literature was established by Senate decisions of 22 September 2016 (central protocol no. 1617006790) and 29 November 2016 (central protocol no. 1617011856), as amended by a further Senate decision of 25 July 2017 (central protocol no. 1718001307; Diavgeia reference: Ψ78Λ46ΨΖ2Ν-76Β).
Although some time-based and location-based restrictions on access to the full text of master's theses and doctoral dissertations are available, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens supports and encourages free, unrestricted access to their content, taking into account:
- the resolution of the 71st Conference of Rectors and Presidents of the Governing Boards of Greek Universities (http://www.synodos-aei.gr/announcements.html),
- the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities (https://openaccess.mpg.de/67671/BerlinDeclaration_gr.pdf),
- the Budapest Open Access Initiative (http://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/boai-10-translations/greek-translation-1).
