TODO - An in vitro-in vivo correlation was attempted for three orally administered formulations of sulphamethoxazole (SMZ)-trimethoprim (TMP), using first statistical moments for in vitro (mean dissolution time) and in vivo (mean residence time) data. In spite of the fact that both SMZ and TMP possess different absorption, distribution and excretion characteristics, an in vitro-in vivo correlation was achieved between an in vitro and in vivo parameter, since the dissolution rate of the drugs is the rate-limiting factor of the drugs appearance in the blood. © 1993.
