Both the discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-spread discrete multitone (DMT) and code division multiple access-DMT are experimentally evaluated and compared against conventional rate adaptive DMT, over a 50-m intensity modulation direct-detection (IM/DD) link of 1-mm PMMA SI-POF. It is shown that both schemes achieve better performance than DMT, whereas DFT-spread DMT behaves best among them, over the same experimental setup. © 1989-2012 IEEE. ER -
