CdMOF-1 shows a 2-D structure based on interconnected dinuclear [Cd-2(COO)(4)(DMAc)(4)] repeating units. It represents the first example of a 2-D Cd2+-H(2)dhtp(2-) compound and only the second M2+-H(2)dhtp(2-) MOF with a two-dimensional polymeric structure. CdMOF-1 is strongly luminescent showing intense (turquoise) emission at ca. 498 nm. Detailed investigations of the photophysical properties of the MOF were performed via UV-Vis solid state spectroscopy, steady state and time-resolved variable temperature luminescence studies.
