Summary:
In the reproductive system, adiponectin regulates the critical relationship
between androgens and estrogens through the effect of insulin and this property
plays a role in follicular develoPMENT. Considering the finding that the
administration of recombinant LH increases the levels of adiponectin, we
realized a study about the effect that could cause the administration of
different hormones on the expression of adiponectin and its receptors and to
elucidate its role in the process of IVF .
Therefore, in the short protocol of GnRH- agonist rFSH was administered to 12
women and HMG to another 12 women.
It was found that the results in the rFSH group were better in the number of
retrieved oocytes , the percentage of mature oocytes , number of follicles
greater than 12mm and more embryos were selected. It was shown that the number
of eggs recovered and the number of follicles larger than 12mm varied
independently of the effect of adiponectin.
As far as receptor expression is concerned it was found that in the group rFSH
the AdipoR1 was expressed more than in the HMG group. The achieving pregnancy
rates were similar between the groups and revealed a significant positive
correlation between the levels of adiponectin and the number of embryos and
follicles larger than 12 mm regardless team. Nevertheless, we didn’t observe
any statistically significant difference between the two groups on the levels
of adiponectin in the follicular fluid.
The differences in design between the two studies may explain the different
findings.
