Summary:
From one whole blood unit obtained red cells, plasma and platelets. It should
be taken seriously into account, the rules that exist throughout the initial
collection and the storage of the blood and its products. According to the
guide lines and the principles of the Council of Europe.
The system of quality is dedicated in the quality and safety of the blood and
its products. The system includes a mechanism of valuation, constantly
improvement and regular control, according to the Council of Europe.
The system Atreus, puts the new spin on whole blood processing on the first
laboratory technology available, that automates the steps of whole blood
processing in a single platform. With the puss of a button, Atreus system users
can easily produce red blood cells, plasma, buffy coats and platelets from
whole blood.
The cause of this study, is to compare the quality of blood cells, between
twenty blood cells that have been processed with the system Atreus and twenty
that have been processed manual (storage). This research took place in the
department of blood donation in the General Hospital “EVAGGELISMOS” where the
quality of blood cells examined in both methods, concerning: the volume of the
blood bag (ml), hemoglobin of the blood bag (g/dl), hematocrit of the blood bag
(%) and the remaining while cells of the blood bag (x106).
The results of the quality control in blood cells which have been produced in
both methods are satisfactory fulfilled according with the guide lines set by
the Council of Europe.
