Original Title:
Summary:
LH and hCG share structural similarities and function through the same
receptor. However, hCG has a longer half-life compared with LH. Furthermore hCG
has stronger receptor binding affinity and is much more potent than LH. The aim
of our study was to compare the outcome of IVF cycles in women receiving
controlled ovarian stimulation with rFSH or rFSH plus low dose hCG for LH
activity. Although women in hCG group were significantly older and with higher
basal FSH levels compared to control group, the former had significantly higher
pregnancy rates (mean 62.9% versus 37.1%). So, addition of low dose hCG to rFSH
compared with rFSH alone yielded significantly higher pregnancy rates.
