Summary:
In the last 30 years the requirements for meat production has quadrupled. But
the increasing needs for meat and meat products have significant effects on
health and the environment. The environment is burdened by animal production
and meat products. In particular, burdened the ground through extensive
grazing, causes serious damage to soil, water from waste disposal and the
cultivation of large quantity of feed and the air by gases released by
contributing to the greenhouse effects. All these effects contribute to climate
change and even livestock can be considered an important factor. Livestock
production has additionally blamed for the event problems also to human health.
Health effects resulting from consumption and breeding of meat. At first,
livestock contributes to health impacts resulting from climate change. In
addition, problems have been reported from drinking water with high nitrate
levels (methaemoglobinaemia) through contamination of water with animal waste
and after eating contaminated meat from grazing animals in areas contaminated
by dioxins and heavy metals. Futhermore, constantly made studies to conclude
about the event problems on human health after cosnuming meat, which has been
use antibiotics and hormones. The use of antibiotics has been accused, with no
safe conclusions, to burdens humans health by developing resistance of
microorganisms (e.g. Salmonella, Campylobacter) to antibiotics. The use of
hormones has been banned, but there is no evidence for effects that can have on
human health. From the above imperative that measures must be taken to address
and manage all the above problems, such as information and awareness of
producers and consumers on the problems posed by farming.
