Summary:
Introduction: Stress has a negative impact on physical health and mental
well-being of health professionals.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of applying
CPR on the emotional state of the health professionals who carried out or be
present during the course of CPR.
Material and Method: This is a prospective study. The sample of the study
consisted of 200 health professionals. The questionnaires used were Depression
Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS) and Multidimensional Fating Inventory (MFI). Both
questionnaires are weighted in the Greek population.
Results: The study sample consists of 112 registered nurses, 36 assistant
nurses and 50 physicians (34 interns and 16 skilled / curators) mean age 39.8 ±
8.5 years. Of the total sample, 29 (14.5%) respondents had recently visited a
mental health specialist for a problem, and 120 (60%) subjects had participated
in CPR training program. Significantly more nurses visited specialist mental
health (p = 0.001), while physicians were significantly higher monthly income
and consume alcohol on a regular basis by nurses (p = 0). The nurses were
significantly greater degree depression (p <0.05), anxiety (p <0.05), anxiety
(p <0.05) and significantly higher general, physical and mental fatigue in
connection with doctors (p <0.05). Emotional health assistant nurses was
significantly worse compared to the others who participated in the study (p
<0.05). Health professionals who had attended a CPR training program had
significantly more general and overall fatigue and significantly less mobile
than those who had not attended (p <0.05).
Conclusions: The nurses have higher levels of fatigue in all dimensions of
their doctors and their emotional state and their psychology is more disturbed.
Seminars in CPR are important, as health professionals tired and less motivated
because they take an active role in dealing with the patient.
