Summary:
In the following essay we will refer to the therapeutic plasmapheresis, in
disease of Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (T.T.P.) and in disease of
Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (H.U.S.)
Plasmapheresis is the removal of components of plasma from the blood sush as
antidotes or pathological elements. During plasmapheresis ,blood is initially
withdrawn by syringe or catheter and then the plasma is obtained from the blood
by special filters.
After the separation , erythrocytes return to the person who follows yhe
treatment ,and plasma is replaced by other liquids. Generally , plasmapheresis
is considered a successful treatment method mainly for immune disorders with
attributable mortality due to complications 3/10000 confer uses.
The Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura or syndrome Moschkowits is
characterized by scattered thrombosis of the microcirculation system and a
syndrome of schistocytes in the peripheral blood , thrombocytopenia, neurologic
symptoms, fever and renal involvement.
It is believed that Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome and other cases of
microangiopathic hemolytic anemia are different expressions of the same disease
that it may be found more often in women and people 30-40 years old.
Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (H.U.S.) is also and a throbotic microangiopathic
disease characterized by thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia, and varying
degrees of renal impairment.
In infants and young children is the most common cause of kidney failure. The
clinical severity varies in proportion with the degree of renal involvement
from mild to cortical necrosis accompanied by renal impairment.
And the end we will refer to the experience of Hematological Unit of P.G.H.
Attikon from its inception up to the year 2012.
