Minimally invasive breast surgery
Languages:

Summary:
Advances in technology allow specialists to surpass the current techniques in
benign, malignant diseases and in cosmetic breast surgery.
The goal of MIBS is to improve aesthetic outcome without compromising
oncological clearance, in the most efficient and economic way.
The importance of developing new operations is critical for both reconstructive
and plastic surgery.
Radiofrequency and laser ablation offer nonsurgical, localized and image guided
treatments. Cryotherapy and focused ultrasound ablation deliver energy to
eliminate tumors.
Breast conserving therapy and thoracoscopic internal mammary lymph node
dissection ensure a minimal incision with the best results.
Skin spare mastectomy and interstitial laser photocoagulation offer a complete
mastectomy with leaving no evidence of a scar.
The potential of endoscopic breast surgery is limitless.
New feasible and safe techniques are on the way. The researches are promising
but new approaches must be tested and new therapies must be defined in large
trials.
