AIM
The aim of this study is the assessment of image quality characteristic and
especially of contrast resolution, spatial resolution and geometric accuracy in
4 CBCT units which have already controlled over a year ago, using the QA
Phantom and different scanning protocols.

MATERIALS AND METHODS
For the present study the QA protocol recommended by the SEDENTEXCT Project was
applied in 4 CBCT units.
The systems evaluated were:
1. NewTom 9000QR(1 unit)
2. NewTomVGI (2units)
3.3D Accuitomo(1 unit)

The QA Phantom was scanned in different protocols and subjective assessment of
image quality was made for Spatial Resolution, Contrast Resolution for five
different materials: Alu, PTFE, Delrin, LDPE, Air and Geometric Accuracy by
three Oral Radiology experts, using the respective inserts in the QA Phantom.

RESULTS
The QA Protocol suggested by the SEDENTEXCT Project was applied in these 4 CBCT
systems. We noted statistically significant differences between the
measurements of some image quality parameters in the units concerned and the
scanning protocols. Especially these differences were found for assessment of
spatial and contrast resolution made by the three observers. On the contrary,
measurements made for geometric accuracy showed no statistically significant
differences between the different CBCT systems and scanning protocols.
