Summary:
The purpose of this work is to study Asperger’s Syndrome. Asperger syndrome
(AS) is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant
difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside
restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from
other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and
cognitive development. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness
and atypical use of language are frequently reported.
The syndrome is named after the Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger. In 1944 he
studied and described children in his practice who had average intelligence and
normal development of language skills but they displayed autism spectrum
behaviors, lacked nonverbal communication skills, demonstrated limited social
interaction.
Aw a pervasive developmental disorder, Asperger syndrome is distinguished by a
pattern of symptoms rather than a single symptom. It is characterized by
qualitative impairment in social interaction, by communicational problems, by
lack of abstract thinking, by peculiar activities and interests, by lack of
fitness and by clumsiness.
At the second part, there is a proposal (project) for the professor who has no
degree in special education but who has a student with the syndrome.
