Summary:
Trigonometric numbers and trigonometric functions consist a very important
topic in secondary education because of their various applications both in
mathematics and physics. As the understanding of the concept of trigonometric
functions seems to be arduous, the educational research has focused on the
investigation of the degree of understanding of other concepts that are
prerequisite, such as the radian, the trigonometry of the right triangle, the
trigonometric circle and the concept of function as well as the connections
between them. In the present research, a digital tool has been developed in
order to be used as a cognitive tool that would help students experiment,
reframe and broaden the knowledge they had acquired in school lessons. Through
the tool’s use the difficulties related to the understanding of the
aforementioned concepts as well as possible interrelated issues have come in
the foreground.
