Original Title:
Διερεύνηση της δομής της λιθόσφαιρας του ελλαδικού χώρου με χρήση σεισμολογικών δεδομένων του Ενιαίου Εθνικού Δικτύου Σεισμογράφων
Summary:
The seismically active region of Greece is sixth worldwide and first in Europe
regarding of
the frequency of earthquakes. The main reason for this activity is the
collision of the tectonic
plates of Eurasia, Anatolia, Africa and Anatolia.
Since 2008 the Seismographs of several Greek networks have been unified to
compose
Hellenic Unified Seismological Network (HUSN). The target of this thesis is to
investigate the
lithospheric structure through the data processing provided by HUSN.
The first chapter is a brief reference in the history of investigation of
seismic waves
propagation, the earth structure and the applied techniques of lithospheric
investigation.
In the second chapter there is an overview of the previous investigations of
the Greek,
lithosphere.
In the third chapter the methodology that was applied in this study (the
selection of the
analyzed earthquakes, the creation of seismic profiles in various azimuths) and
the results are
thoroughly discussed.
In the conclusions the results are evaluated and the further perspectives are
also referred.
