Parentage testing with STR genetic markers methodology

The aiam of this staudy was paternity/maternity testing in a total of 30
samples using STRs genetic markers method. A kit of 16 autosomal genetic
markers together with the genetic locus of amelogenin for sex determination,
was used (AmpFlSTR NGM SElect kit). In the beginning the genetic profile of
each case members was determined and the parameters CPI and W in cases of non
exclusion were calculated. The next step was the calculation of the absolute
numbers of all the alleles for genetic locus in all the samples studied.
Finally a small persentage of cases was analyzed by HLA typing. In conclusion
STR genetic markers methodology offers higher accuracy as expressed through CPI
and W statistical parameters.
