Summary:
In this paper, we make an overview of theories and research on spirituality and
spiritual leadership and we notice the characteristics that make a good leader.
The purpose of this study is to examine the philosophical, ethical and
psychological terms of spiritual leadership. Most leadership theories are
focused mainly on the the behavior of the leader, as it is considered that the
behaviors are learned more easily than features and can lead to more effective
leadership. One of the necessary condition for the creation and maintenance of
spirituality in the workplace focuses on an internal call to challenge oneself.
In this way spiritual leader is relying on spiritual and ethical values,
altruistic love in a way that he can create a vision through calling and
membership, in which both leaders and followers are experiencing a sense of
duty, a sense that life has meaning and purpose.
