Comparison of rime judgement under segmentl and lexical stress violations
Summary:
A novel experimental rime judgement task was developed and explored in
(free-stress, five vowel) Greek. Sets of word-pairs were selected by an
algorithm
so that the words differed deliberately regarding their segmental features
and/or
their lexical stress position. Expected rime judgement was estimated in a
5-point
scale, an item propertied were used in the comstruction of a 2-AFC chronometric
experiment in which expected log odds ratio and response times were estimated
with mixed-effects linear models, with word-pairs and participants as random
factors and type of rime violation as a fixed factor. Item statistics are
reported
with the objective of developing futher experimental designs exploiting dynamic
decision process recording techniques, such as eye/mouse tracking, in order to
inform research on lexical stress exploitation in parallel activation and
lexical
competition in speech perception.
