Summary:
In this work, we first studied the synthesis and properties of P-N-P ligands,
mainly DPPA (Ph2PNHPPh2) and [Ph2PN(S-CHMePh)PPh2] as well as their oxidized
by chalcogen atom products {(Ph2P)N(S-CHMePh)[Ph2P(Se)]},
{(Ph2P)N(S-CHMePh)[Ph2P(S)]} , {(Ph2P)N(S-CHMePh)[Ph2P(O)]} και
[Ph2P(S)NHP(S)Ph2]. Subsequently, with the use of these ligands, we synthesized
the complexes {AuCl(Ph2P)N(S-CHMePh)[Ph2P(Ο)]} (1),
[AuCl{(Ph2P)N(S-CHMePh)[Ph2P(S)]}] (2), [[AuCl{(Ph2P)N(S-CHMePh)[Ph2P(Se)]}
(3), {Au(PPh3)[(Ph2P(S)]2N} (4), {Rh(CO)Cl{(Ph2P)N(S-CHMePh)[Ph2P(Se)]} (5)
και {Au4Cl4[Ph2P(O)]} (6). The complexes 3, 4 and 5 were analyzed by IR and
NMR spectroscopy, whereas the structure of complexes 4 and 6, as well as of the
ligand {(Ph2P)N(S-CHMePh)[Ph2P(Se)]}, were determined by X-ray crystallography.
Finally, 5 and {Au2Cl2[(PPh2)2N(S-CHMePh)]}, were evaluated as catalysts in
hydrogenation and hydroformylation reactions.
