Learning styles and learning abilities: A preliminary study using the psychometric test of «CAP’S ARISTON».
Summary:
This study investigates which are the dominant types of learning and which
learning abilities are mostly developed, concerning students aged between 15 to
18 , with the use of the psychometric tool «Ariston test».The «Ariston test»
studies 6 learning styles : Linguistic, Auditory, Visual, Kinesthetic,
Intrapersonal, and Interpersonal . The learning abilities included in the same
test are 7: matching concepts, composing concepts, reconstructing concepts,
identifying analogies, understanding rules, understanding subsets and
understanding intersections . This study also investigates the possible
correlating or predicting relations between the grades / scores of the learning
styles and the grades / scores of the learning abilities of the students aged
15 – 18 years old, with the use of the same tool . The results of the statistic
analysis have shown that the participant students achieve higher scores in the
Kinesthetic and Interpersonal learning style , whereas in the Intrapersonal
style they achieve lower scores.Regarding the learning abilities they achieved
higher scores in the matching concepts and lower in identifying analogies.
Furthermore 4 of the learning abilities have been related slightly negatively
with the Visual, Verbal and Intrapersonal Learning type.
