Μελέτη ταυτοποίησης φορτίου e?, e+ και εφαρμογή στη μέτρηση του υπόβαθρου στις διασπάσεις Z ! e?e+ στο πείραμα CMS στον LHC
Summary:
In the present work the technique of electron and positron identification at
CMS of the LHC accelerator is presented.
A combination of three algorithms can provide an estimation of charges for
these particles; however there still exists a low probability of chage
misidentification.
Charge misidentification probability turns out to be an important parameter
involved in mesurments with electrons or positrons.
In the present essay, two methods of probability measurment are tested and
compared, both of which are based on Z-->e+e- events collection.
Measurements of probability (versus |η| and Pτ) are applied over the first 35
pb^-1 events of the CMS detector. A comparation with relevant simuleated values
also performed.
After having obtained the charge misidentification probability, we try to
measure signal and background events number for a Z-->e+e- collection.
