Study of energy harvesting techniques in RFID systems
Summary:
In our days, the energy supply of small devices or sensors in order to operate
autonomously for a long period of time is an issue that has concerned a lot. In
other words, there is an imperative need to store and supply systems with
sufficient energy and this energy needs to be consumed with the lowest possible
losses and cost. Energy harvesting is the process of collecting energy of
different environment sources so as to satisfy this need. This way, apart from
the autonomous energy supply of systems, many problems causing from existing
power supply systems (such as batteries) are resolved.
In the present Thesis we study the Energy harvesting process in Radio Frequency
Identification Systems (RFIDs). The first chapter describes the definition and
the applications that Energy Harvesting has. In the second chapter, we give a
detailed description of RFID systems. Finally, we present
the Markov model and we describe its application in energy harvesting RFID
systems.
