Study of the influence of demographic (sex, age), somatotype (height, weight, BMI - body mass index) and individual medical background as well as the genetic profile (CETP I405V and TaqIB gene polymorphism) in the lipid metabolism - Total Cholesterol, TC - Triacyloglycerols, TΑG - Low Density Lipoproteins cholesterol, LDL-C - High Density Lipoproteins, HDL-C of patients treated with fluvastatin.

Summary:
The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of the demographic (sex,
age), somatotype (height, weight, BMI) and individual medical background as
well as the genetic profile (CETP I405V and TaqIB gene polymorphism) in the
lipid metabolism - Total Cholesterol, TC - Triacyloglycerols, TΑG - Low
Density Lipoproteins cholesterol, LDL-C - High Density
Lipoproteins, HDL-C of patients treated with fluvastatin.
The results showed statistically significant reduction of TC, TG and LDL-C
(with p<0.001 in each case) after fluvastatin treatment
A significant reduction of TAG was observed after treatment with fluvastatin in
patients with with B1B1 and B2B2 genotypes. According to I405V polymorphism TAG
were decreased significantly in all genotypes.
The impact of the BMI and the presence of hypertension in % reduction of TC
and LDL-C were statistically significant. In particular, lesser % reduction of
TC in patients with greater BMI as well as in patients with hypertension was
observed.
Also, lesser % reduction of LDL-C in the patients with high BMI with
hypertension was observed.
