Summary:
Although several studies have been carried out to the extreme, is always
created the need for moreover research, particularly when there are new
datasets.
In this work, for the region of Eastern Mediterranean and Balkans for period
1961 - 2000 was studied the distribution of medium fields and extreme indices
of rainfall, drought and temperature and their tendencies
For this study, daily data of rainfall and maximum and minimum temperature were
used. The data are provided by the program European Climate Assessment and Data
Project (ECA & D) and totally are collected 496 stations. Of these are
selected, only the stations that contain as much as possible full time series
from 1961 to 2000. Thus, 85 stations for precipitation and 68 for the
temperature are used.
The calculation of medium fields, in annual and seasonal base, and extreme
indices was performed using a suitable code, which was developed in software
IDL. To capture the potential climate change that fields and extreme indices
are inflicted, in each spatial distribution shows its tendency as well as the
table with the stations that tendency is important, which was controlled via
the distribution t- student.
From these result important conclusions on more intense dry and hot period with
social, economic and environmental effects.
