Summary:
By following faithfully the ΕΠΧΣΑΑ the object of this thesis is to find
areas suitable for sitting a wind farm on the island of Skyros. The island of
Skyros is in the Aegean Sea located south of the complex of the Northern
Sporades. The island has an area of 209 sq. km and a coastline of 130 km. The
island has a very favorable wind characteristics that make it suitable for
study. For finding suitable areas Geographic Information Systems had used.
At first based on the rules of ΕΠΧΣΑΑ for the RES exclusion zones in areas
which do not permit the installation of wind farms had been created. Then
influence zones were created based on criteria that ensure the functionality of
wind installations. The combination of these bands emerged areas that are
suitable for sitting of wind power plants for electricity production on the
island.
