Summary:
The subject of this dissertation is a pilot investigation for the effectiveness
of using concept maps in teaching of Information Technology. Specifically,
indicative activities were designed by the teacher for students, in order to
draw useful conclusions on the contribution of concept maps in meaningful
learning. The activities have been carried out under the curriculum of second
grade of Gymnasium for the course of Computer Science. The educational scenario
that was applied included both individual and group activities using Cmap Tools
software. The aim of this research was to teach a chapter in Computer Science
in two classes with different method. In the first class the teaching was
conducted by the method of concept mapping and in the second class by the
method of lecturing, in order finally to achieve student assessment and
comparison of the two classes. The results of research showed that the use of
concept maps in educational practice contributes to the emergence of any
misunderstandings and misconceptions of students.
