The role of women in Scientific Revolution
Summary:
This thesis aims to investigate the role played by women in the Scientific
Revolution. For comprehensive coverage of the subject examined an expanded time
period, starting from the time of the late Middle Ages and ending in the Age of
Enlightenment. Approached all parameters enhanced or prevented the involvement
of women in the Natural Philosophy initially and Science then. In reinforcing
agents include various networks noble as were the French Salons and the
Patronage, and ofcourse the institution of the Guilds. As deterrents deemed
Universities and the Scientific Academies, either formally or informally
discouraged the entry of women among them. Although the conditions were not
always favorable to them were many women who supplanted the disadvantages
resulting from their gender and managed to engage variously and dynamically in
the process of production of scientific knowledge.
