Synthesis, study and characterization of omogenous photocatalytic system Re(I)/Co for H2 production
Summary:
This work was conducted as part of graduate work in the field of Inorganic
Chemistry at the University of Athens. It covers the literature of
photocatalytic hydrogen production systems with homogeneous catalysis. We
studied the complexes [Re(CO)3Brpq] and [Co(dmgH)2] with spectroscopies as
FT-IR, UV-Vis, NMR and cyclic voltammetry. The following system was studied for
evolution of hydrogen under illumination: [Re(CO)3Brpq] / [Co(dmgH)2] / TEOA /
AcOH. The complex [Re(CO)3Brpq] used as photosensitizer (PS), the [Co(dmgH)2]
was used as a hydrogen evolution reaction catalyst and triethanolamine (TEOA)
asthe electron donor (D) and acetic acid (AcOH) as a proton source. DMF was
used as solvent. The hydrogen was detected by TCB (thermal conductivity
detector) by gas chromatography.
