Human face and facial emotions: factors of racial stereotypes formulation and attribution
Summary:
First impression, a categorical and automatic perception process of facial and
facial emotion features seems to play a significant role for the formation of
racial stereotypes, too. In the present study we present recent research
studies results supporting the emotion overgeneralization hypothesis, and
specifically the notion that the resemblance of facial features with those of
facial expressions play a key role for the formation both of first impressions
and stereotypical impressions concerning different races members, contributing
this way to the formulation of racial prejudices.
