Original Title:
Υδρογεωλογικές συνθήκες κατα μήκος του ρήγματος αποκόλλησης στον Ανατολικό Πάρνωνα
Summary:
The extensional detachment system of the eastern Peloponnesus is arguably the
dominant structural feature of the eastern Peloponnesus, aged Upper Miocene -
Lower Pliocene. At Parnon Mountain, two northeast dipping detachment faults are
present, the deeper of the two faults is detached within the Mani unit while
the shallower is detached within the Arna unit. Upper plate rocks for these
faults are variable along strike. From the hydrogeological point of view we
studied the upper detachment fault, which separates the underlying impervious
metamorphosed formations of the Arna unit from the overlying Tripolis
impermeable carbonate platform. After the construction of structural tectonic
map of this contact and geological fieldwork we found the underground water
movement to northeastward, leading to the sea and the spring which are created
along the detachment fault.
