Summary:
This thesis was produced as a part of completion of the postgraduate program in
the Department «Informatics and Telecommunication». The scope of this work is
to investigate methods for identifying and addressing the botnet, focusing on
the case of the latest mobile phones. The computing power of smart mobile
phones has increased dramatically and now are used not only for telephone calls
and send-receive SMS, but also in web applications like social networking,
e-banking, e-mail, online shopping. The last two years, especially, smart
mobile phones, tend to replace the use of laptop computers. The purpose of this
work is to understand the workings of the botnet, the threats and bring about
the methods to identify and respond to them. Methodologically, this thesis is
based on extensive literature review and several recent foreign sources, such
as technical reports of the European Agency for Safety and Information Network
(ENISA)
