Resource Sharing as a Service : Technical Challenges and Solutions for Fifth Generation Wireless Networks
Summary:
The current thesis’s aim is the extensive review, study and analysis of the
fifth generation mobile communications systems (5G), which are about to be
deployed in the following years. Moreover, it investigates very carefully a
specific research project which proposes a radio resource protocol that can be
characterized as network-centric. This protocol is innovative regarding the way
subscribers are served, since an operator is allowed to serve a subscriber who
belongs to another’s operator network. Based on the 5G technologies and the
above mentioned proposal, the current thesis proposes a model of different
approach for radio resource sharing between different operators, which can be
characterized as device-centric. This model has the ability to achieve the
assignment of the largest part of responsibilities to the mobile devices and
the minimization of network adaption to the mobile devices’ needs.
