Exam supervision management platform
Summary:
The subject of this project was the creation of an exam supervision management
platform. The main services that were implemented were the management of
courses, professors and supervisors, the entry and processing of the exam
schedule, the automatic mass e-mailing towards the supervisors and the
automatic assignment of supervisions. After the mapping of the data models and
the creation of the application's database, the various pages were created
using the MVC programming paradigm. Taking the special communication
requirements into account, we had to create a custom mass emailer that has the
ability to know when a supervisor has read the email and followed the personal
link towards the private preferences page and whether any of those preferences
were saved. When all the supervisors have set and saved their preferences or
when the administrator wants to, the automatic assignment process can commence.
The automatic assignment algorithm is constrained by the administrator's
requirements, the requirements of the various courses and the supervisors'
preferences. During every step of the automatic assignment process the
administrator has the ability to manually change any of the assignments already
made or to set one or more beforehand. When the resulting schedule is
acceptable, the administrator can send a mass email to the supervisors,
informing them personally of their assigned days and hours of supervisions.
