Tuberculosis: as a World Threat…
In our country, tuberculosis is ranked in the highest levels in comparison with the developing European countries but in lower levels than other developing countries in the European Union.
The present project targets:
• At which grade tuberculosis has influenced the hygienic and the financial condition of the third grade care in Greece of the memorandum of agreement the last five years the detection of the symptoms of tuberculosis.
• The recognition of the active tuberculosis in immigrants as a threat for the public health.
• To increase medical staff so that we can detect more incidents of the disease.
• The publication of the research results targeting in the motivation of the Health Ministry and the current political government so that tuberculosis can be easily detected and cured in the population of immigrants.
The study is divided into two parts, the general and specialized one. In the general part different researches are reported about the prevalence of tuberculosis on immigrants and the consequence of it on the indignant population in Europe.
At the same time we are referring to tuberculosis in general, the clinical image, the diagnosis and the treatment.
In the main scientific part :
Aim: It was to investigate to what extent the detection of cases of tuberculosis disease has affected the health and economic situation of tertiary health care in Greece, during the dramatic increase in migration and refugee flows.
Method: The study was conducted at a NHS tertiary hospital and 100 specialists physicians and pulmonologists were enrolled . As self- report questionnaire was used as a research tool.
Results : Health professionals believe that there is a significant increase of tuberculosis in Greece, in the year of economic crisis and migratory flows significantly account for it. The majority reported that patients originate mainly from Pakistan and Afghanistan, are mainly men, between 20- 49 years old. They think that this phenomenon significantly affects the health system and has social and economic implication for the Greek society, with particular relevance to productive age population.
Conclusion : The views of doctors reflect the concerns of the scientific community about the spread of tuberculosis in times of economic crisis, with a significant impact on economic activity and the social fabric.
