Remodeling the teaching of Ancient Greek Text Anthology through Multimodality and Scaffolding. A multimodal educational material.
Summary:
This thesis attempts to form a different context for teaching Ancient Greek Text Anthology (consisted by unknown to the students text selections), which is a subject characterized by strong teaching tradition and ritualistic and formalistic teaching methodology. Specifically, it is an educational material for Ancient Greek Text Anthology, based on theories of teaching scaffolding and multimodality, that desires to make students capable to understand the content of ancient Greek texts and translate it in modern Greek, through a discovery teaching method. This educational material, which is different from traditional Anthologies, also aims at effective utilization of prior knowledge, and communication with the form of Greek language which still retains the vivacity of orality. Furthermore, this thesis desires to form students with a knowledge base that will enhance them as readers of ancient Greek literature. In order to achieve this, there are proposed scanning type activities that focus on key points of the texts, but also in places that develop intertextuality, so students will understand better the content of these texts and therefore they will form a background for the ancient Greek world, through the simultaneous cultivation of metacognitive skills.
