Summary:
This MA Thesis is a study of the Theological and Hermeneutical notions of Fazlur Rahman Malik (1919-1988).
Fazlur Rahman was a profound muslim scholar in the 20th century, acknowledged expert in the field of Quranic Hermeneutics, Islamic Education and Hadīth criticism. He also firmly supported the reformation and modernization of Islam.
His main goal was the identification of the Qurʼān, as a moral guide for all humanity and so his theological views are considered as Quranocentric.
His notable theory of the «double movement» became influential among the academics and, nowadays, it still remains a reference point in Quranic Studies.
