Proactive Personality, Career Adaptability and Self-Efficacy Beliefs: Their relation to the Students' With and/or Without Visual Impairment Career Decision-Making Procedure
Summary:
The present study reviews the literature regarding the correlation between career decision-making difficulties, proactive personality, career adaptability and self-efficacy. After the literature review, a qualitative study was conducted to examine the contribution of these personal characteristics between students with and/or without visual impairment. A sample of 24 persons with visual impairment and 47 participants without visual impairment, were given Questionnaires related with: Proactive Personality, Career Adaptability, Career Self-Efficacy, and Career Decision Making Difficulties. The results did not confirm the initial hypotheses, however, was indicated that the predicting factor for the group of the participants without visual impairment on career decision-making was Self-Efficacy, while the predicting factor for the ones with vision loss was Career Adaptability. Research results were interpreted by the Social Cognitive Career Theory and can be used in the field of education and in the vocational counseling for students with and without visual impairment.
