Aspects of early Hermetism in Ovid’s Metamorphoses
Summary:
The aim of the present study is to trace elements of early hermetism in Ovid's Metamorphoses, which evolved as a result of the Greco-Roman and Egyptian religious discourse. The examination of Ovid's cosmogony is a starting point for this study. Also, the vital role of three particular gods - Isis, Hermes and Asclepius - is explored in connection with hermetism.
