Summary:
The goal of this study is to review and describe applications for people with disabilities. In the beginning, the Greek term “AMEA” is presented and the importance of computer science applications in the field is highlighted, along with a respective categorization of applications. Then, the study analyzes the most widely used applications at each category of disabilities. The innovative aspects of selected applications are presented and it is shown how they can facilitate communication among people with disabilities and the rest of the society. Finally, the study draws conclusions and expresses some concerns and questions that can serve as a starting point for future work.
