Summary:
This research paper attempts to approach issues arising from the management of exile sites, as well as the management of ̎difficult̎ heritage sites. Specifically, the paper focuses on the research of Makronissos memory management efforts, which is associated with the painful memories suppression of the greek civil war, reflecting the historical and political peculiarities of each time period. Through the study of Makronissos are being observed the marks left both in site and memory, due to the respective historical changes, in order to draw conclusions about the management difficulties of a problematic and controversial past materiality.
