Learning styles at the studies of Braille Method and Sign Language
Summary:
Number of studies have been conducted on the issue of learning styles. The literature on the subject is huge, but a paucity of studies focus their attention on the parallel learning of the predominant type of a person, with the successful conquest of a new knowledge. Others suffer in the methodology or results. The purpose of this research is to determine whether the learning types of candidates in certification exams of Braille and sign language can contribute to success or failure. The evaluation of the learning style of the participants held through Barsch Learning Styles Inventory (BLSI). Findings from 88 candidates (52 of Braille and 38 of Sign Language), showed the prevalence of visual type versus auditory and kinesthetic, but nevertheless succeeded in both tests of Braille that one would expect that it appropriate for kinesthetic types as and Sign Language that according to the theory would fit in compact types. No main effect of language observed (Braille writing and sign language) on learning types. It seems, then, that there are many factors that contribute to the conquest of new knowledge, such as environmental. Therefore proposed a comprehensive approach of the learning process by teachers.
