Fortifications of the second Venetian domination in Peloponnese- Archaeological Testimonies and Written Sources
Summary:
This postgraduate work deals with the collection and processing of written sources and archaeological testimonies in five cities of Peloponnese during the Second Venetian domination and specifically: Methoni, Koroni, Nafplio, Monemvasia, and Acrocorintho.
In these cities we can watch the adjustments made by the Venetians already by the mid-15th century, the topography in existing fortifications with additional structures, culminating the introduction in the mid 16th century the bastion system.
From numerous sources, archives and these monuments we can follow the development of the fortifications of Venetian domination in these fortresses from the mid-16th century.
