Manufacture of a simple conductivity meter for measuring electrolytic solutions
Summary:
In this paper the theoretical background of the conductivity of the electrolyte is described and also the method of manufacture and use of a conductivity meter for measuring electrolytic solutions Patient-strong non-electrolytes for use in the course of chemistry. The conductivity meter was constructed to meet the following criteria:
• Be easily manufactured.
• The cost is as low as possible.
• To promote interdisciplinary teaching of science.

To fulfill the above goals, the microcontroller Arduino UNO R3 was used (on which the measurement values read screen was adjusted) as the main unit of the conductivity meter.
Arduino was connected to a suitable simple voltage divider circuit assembled on a breadboard on which photodiodes were incorporated (protected by suitable ohm resistance) so as the indication of the strength of the measured electrolytic solution to be visualized. The materials for the above construction do not exceed 15 Euro.

Also, an appropriate “conductivity sensor” was constructed with simple materials, which is connected to the breadboard and submerged in the electrolytic solution used to measure the conductivity.

After manufacture the instrument was customizing suitably using a standard KCl solution and used for measuring the conductivity of different electrolyte solutions.
