Summary:
In the first chapter, will b analyzed the definitions of Insurgency and Counterinsurgency and their characteristics. Basic characteristics of both operations, which are used by each party in order to achieve different goals, are population and the state as political and legal entity. In the end of the chapter, will be mentioned success criteria in order the state, which is threatened by guerillas, to regan ists internal power without the help of externals actors and stated.
In the second chapter, will by analyzed in three sections, the US strategy from 1991 until 2012. In the first section will be analyzed US strategy from 1991 until 2003, focus on 1991 "New World Order", 1995 "Engagement and Enlargement", 1998 "Regiment Change", 200 "Global age" and 2002 "Preventive War". In the second and in the third section, which are the key sections of the thesis, will be analyzed US strategy fromm 2003 until 2012, focus on the ongoing operations in Iraq and in the Afganistan and the Impact they had in the political and social environment of US.
In the third chapter will be analyzed how strategy transformed in tactic in both operation field of Iraq and Afghanistan. Apart the ongoing operations and the tactics that US troops used o overcome and tackle the Iraqis and Taliban's resistance, it will be mentioned and the characteristics of both societes which were the key point of COIN operations.
At last chapter, will be exported conclusions about the tactic of COIN and COIN operations in Iraq and Afghanistan due to success criteria raised in the first chapter. Also conclusion will be raised about the impact on the ongoing operations in Iraq and Afghanisan by political and military leadership actions of US.
