Summary:
Under Greek Labour Law, the employee handbook regulates the employment relationships and working conditions at performance stage. This study firstly presents the issues arising from the scope of employee handbooks, their subject-matter and legal effects, the different types and the rules governing succession thereof. In the second part, the study focuses on the specific rules governing employee handbooks in Public Services and Utilities (DEKO), and particularly on the case law development of the issues that an employee handbook most frequently regulates in a DEKO, such as promotions, disciplinary law, permanency clauses and the impact of transfers of enterprises.
