Original Title:
Το προσφυγικό ζήτημα στον ελληνικό ημερήσιο Τύπο κατά τη διάρκεια της προεκλογικής περιόδου (για την περίοδο 20/08- 20/09/2015)
Summary:
The dissertation focuses on the case of Greek media’s coverage with respect to the 2015 Refugees Crisis. The coverage has focused heavily on the refugees arriving in Europe, and especially on Syrian refugees.
The journey is often horrifyingly dangerous: Many families drown crossing the Mediterranean in rickety boats, for example, which is why a Syrian toddler's body washed up on a Turkish beach. Refugee crisis heightens on Greece's eastern islands.
The dissertation is aiming to examine the coverage of Refugees Crisis in the Greek press of August- September 2015. Under ordinary circumstances we can expect that different newspapers will represent diverse political and ideological viewpoints in treating refugee’s crisis, as Greek publications are conventionally associated with different political interests and ideas.
Press plays an important role in explaining why news framing has effects on opinions about refugee’s crisis.
