Summary:
The purpose of this paper is to provide a complete research on the work of Ioannes Scylitzae "Synopsis Historiarum", and specifically the portaits of emperors composed by the chronographer. To be more precise, this paper consists of three main parts; the introduction which refers to the life of the chronographer and his work, the main part, where all deeds of each emperor are presented and based on these deeds we make a critical evaluation of each byzantine emperor. Finally, the last part includes the conclusions we reached in this survey. Necessary is an annex where some miniatures from the manuscript of Madrid are displayed.
