Summary:

The main objectives of the present study are firstly to present the basic theoretical principles of research on language error and mainly on language transfer errors (the notion of error, the notion of the interlanguage, the main theoretical approaches to error, the causes and mechanisms) and secondly to identify, present and analyse the language transfer errors, made by Italian-speaking students of Greek as a foreign language during the production of written texts. Moreover, we attempted to classify the errors in levels of linguistic analysis and detect the differences between A and B level.
