Summary:
Self-image, self-esteem and self-perception are concepts that have been extensively studied in recent years and have been widely used in various areas of psychology.
The purpose of this research was to capture the self-esteem of school-aged children of the first, second and third grades of primary school. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the quantitative research was selected. The tool for the quantitative research was the questionnaire for assessing the self-perception and self-esteem “How I perceive myself” PSPCA I (Harter &Pike, 1983, 1984). Forty six elementary school pupils were enrolled in this survey, with an average age of 8 years. Of the 46 pupils, 44.4% were boys and 55.6% were girls. The main conclusion of the research is that children’s self-esteem in the field of school competence, relationships with peers and physical fitness was relatively high. There was also a statistically significant positive correlation between the indicators of self-perception, which not only increases the reliability and validity of the research, but also shows how the indicators interact with each other.
