Canons to Archangel Michael from sinaitic codices
Summary:
My love to Archangel Michael led me to dedicate my thesis to him. The canons in this paper were found in Sinaitic codices. More specifically, these codices are the Sinait. gr. 669, the Sinait. gr. 567 and the Sinait. gr. 638, which are dated between the 12th and the 14th centuries. In total there are six canons, the hymnographers of which are not all known, all praising the Archangel for his miracles and his redeeming and therapeutic power. The feasts, which are mostly known to Christians and are mentioned in the manuscripts, are the one of the Synaxis of the Archangel Michael and the other Bodiless Powers on the 8th of November and the one on the 6th of September, when the miracle at Chonae is celebrated. Among the biblical references there is one less widespread miracle of the Archangel which took place in Egypt.
